The Fair Housing Act prohibits housing discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including sexual orientation and gender identity), disability, and familial status (living with children). The Tennessee Fair Housing Council (TFHC) is a private nonprofit organization. Our mission is to eliminate housing discrimination in Tennessee. We provide free legal assistance to residents of Cheatham, Davidson, DeKalb, Dickson, Montgomery, Putnam, Robertson, Rutherford, Smith, Sumner, Williamson, and Wilson counties who have experienced, or are currently experiencing, issues with their housing as a result of discrimination. In limited instances, as our resources allow, we help residents of other Tennessee counties. In addition, we provide intake/referral and outreach across Tennessee.
If you or someone you know needs help with housing discrimination, please call us at 615-874-2344, email us at admin@tennfairhousing.org, or submit a request for assistance through the Contact Us tab located at the top of this page.
The Tennessee Fair Housing Council is funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Metropolitan Housing Development Agency, and the Tennessee Bar Foundation. We also welcome donations.
